Beam

Privacy Policy

Effective August 8, 2026

Beam is made by SparQan LLC, a Texas limited liability company. You can reach us at [email protected].

The short version

Beam turns your speech into text on your Mac. Your audio is processed by models running on your own Apple silicon and is never sent anywhere. There is no account and no cloud transcription. The complete list of what ever touches our servers is below, and it is short.

What stays on your Mac

Your voice: dictation audio is processed in memory and discarded. Meeting and recording capture is spooled to temporary local files that are deleted after transcription completes; when a capture fails partway, its audio is kept on your own Mac for recovery, and the app shows you exactly how much.

Your transcripts and notes: stored as plain local files in your Library folder, readable and deletable by you at any time. Beam's history can be turned off.

Your settings and voice profile: local files. The vocabulary profile Beam learns from your dictation history never leaves the device.

What reaches our servers, exhaustively

  1. Software update checks. Beam checks a static file on our content network for new versions. We keep no per-person records of these requests.
  2. Model downloads. Speech and language models download from our content network on first setup and when updated. Same: no per-person records kept by us.
  3. License activation and checks. When you activate a license, Beam sends your license key and an install identifier so we can issue your signed license file. We store the association between the key and the install. On licensed Macs, the daily update check also confirms the license is still valid; that request carries the license id and install identifier, nothing else. If the check cannot be reached, your license simply keeps working.
  4. Your email address. If you submit it on our website, to start a download or to hear about updates, we store it and use it only to send your license key and Beam news.
  5. Crash reports and feedback. Only if you choose to send them, by email, after seeing their contents. Nothing is sent automatically.

That is the whole list. Beam contains no analytics SDKs, no advertising identifiers, and no third-party trackers.

Payments

Purchases are processed by our payment providers (Stripe, and Paddle where offered). Your payment details go to them, not to us; their privacy policies govern that data. We receive what we need to deliver your license: your email and the fact of your purchase.

Meetings and recordings

Capture of calls and meetings happens and stays on your Mac. You are responsible for obtaining any consent required by law in your location before recording other people.

Your rights

Email [email protected] to access or delete anything we hold about you. For most users, that is at most a license record or an email address.

Children

Beam is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes

We will post changes here with a new effective date. Material changes to what data leaves your Mac will be called out in release notes.
