with Beam.

1. Who these terms are between

These terms are between you and SparQan LLC, a Texas limited liability company (“we”), the maker of Beam for Mac. They explain the conditions for using Beam and purchasing a license.

2. Using Beam

Beam transcribes and cleans up speech using models on your Mac. It requires an Apple silicon Mac running macOS 14 or later; meeting audio capture requires macOS 14.4 or later. Accuracy varies with your audio, environment, and hardware. Review important output; no accuracy level is guaranteed.

The trial includes every feature for 14 days from first launch, without a card or account. Afterwards, the free tier includes 2,000 words per week using the Instant engine.

3. Subscriptions and cancellation

Monthly and yearly plans cost $5.99 per month or $59.99 per year. For new subscriptions from November 1, 2026, prices are $7.49 per month or $79 per year. Your joining price stays the same for as long as you keep that subscription uninterrupted. Prices are in US dollars.

Subscriptions renew automatically. Unless you cancel before renewal, your payment method is charged at the start of each new term. Cancel at any time through your billing page or by emailing [email protected]. Cancellation stops future charges.

You keep full access for the paid term, plus a three-day grace period. Beam then returns to the free tier without deleting your content. Renewing restores paid access.

Before yearly renewals and legacy three-year Founders renewals, we email a reminder in good time with the amount, charge date, and cancellation instructions.

4. Founders: pay once, keep Beam

The Founders license sold from September 16, 2026 costs $149 once for up to two Macs you own or control. It is perpetual: it has no expiry date and never renews. The $149 Founders offer is available until November 1, 2026.

Founders includes every feature of Beam during active development, including future on-device features and updates. There is no higher tier within Beam, and no Beam feature is withheld from Founders.

After activation and model downloads, normal use works offline. Beam checks license status when connected, but an unavailable connection does not disable a valid perpetual license.

If development ends, we will publish a final release that removes the activation requirement and lets you keep using Beam locally without our servers. We cannot guarantee compatibility with future macOS versions or hardware Apple has not yet released.

If development ends sooner than you reasonably expected, you can request a partial refund outside the 30-day window. We will read and answer each request; these additional refunds are discretionary, subject to your statutory rights.

5. Earlier licenses keep their terms

The $129 three-year Founders plan sold before September 16, 2026 is no longer offered. Existing plans continue to renew every three years at their original price while maintained, covering every feature shipped during the paid term. These terms do not reduce those rights.

Earlier licenses bought under a single pay-once price remain perpetual for the purchased version and its updates. They do not promise every future major upgrade. The commitment to a final build without activation also applies to them.

6. A straightforward refund

Email [email protected] within 30 days of any payment for a full refund, no questions asked. This covers renewals as well as first purchases.

A refund ends the license and prevents new activations. We normally allow a short wind-down period before the app returns to the free tier. A refunded or charged-back Founders key is retired when Beam next reaches the licensing service. Your local content is not deleted.

7. Your license and content

Paid licenses are personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and cover up to two Macs you personally use. You may not resell, sublicense, or reverse engineer Beam except as permitted by law. Free beta keys identify an installation without restricting functionality; we may end the beta program.

You retain ownership of everything you dictate, record, and transcribe. We claim no rights to that content. Beam processes it locally; information you choose to share with support is covered by our Privacy Policy.

You are responsible for following applicable recording laws and obtaining consent when required. Third-party apps you send text to handle it under their own terms.

Open source components and models have their own licenses, listed in Beam’s Acknowledgements. Those licenses govern those components.

8. Warranties, liability, and termination

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Beam is provided as is, without warranties. We are not liable for transcription content, accuracy, or consequences, or for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. Our total liability for a claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before it arose.

Nothing in these terms limits consumer rights that cannot be limited by agreement.

We may terminate a license for a material breach of these terms. A terminated key stops activating new Macs and is retired on an activated Mac when Beam next reaches us. You can stop using Beam at any time; your local files remain yours.

9. General terms and contact

Texas law governs these terms, subject to your mandatory consumer rights. If one provision is unenforceable, the others remain in effect. These terms and the Privacy Policy form the entire agreement about Beam.
